At a luncheon for the pastor’s wives this afternoon, the speaker made a fascinating point. Being hospitable–opening your home in a gracious way to guests–is something we are to focus on in the last days.
But the end of all things is at hand; therefore be serious and watchful in your prayers. And above all things have fervent love for one another, for “love will cover a multitude of sins.” Be hospitable to one another without grumbling. As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. 1 Peter 4:7-10, NKJV.
Interesting, right? And in context, this command isn’t just for pastor’s wives. It’s for everyone. Without grumbling. This already has the wheels turning in my head on simple ways to ramp up our hospitality. I’d love to hear how others put this principle into practice too.
