Timothy Weiner, Legacy of Ashes: The History of the CIA, New York: Doubleday, 2007. Stefan Rudniki, narrator, Blackstone Audio, Inc.
There’s something about becoming a member of your local library that makes one feel like they have finally settled in a community. Two weeks ago, with an itch to have access to free books again, I stopped by the local library in the town where I have been living for the last six months and signed up to be the establishment’s newest patron.
Of course, it was not long before I started browsing the online catalog and selecting new material to feed my brain with.
As soon as I saw that Legacy of Ashes was a history of the CIA, I clicked to download it. I didn’t know the premise behind the book or that it was so long (I believe it is over 800 pages in print form, over 20 hours in audio form). While epic in length, and though it took me a little time to get into it, this was the perfect book to ease me back into my BookWom ways.
