Justice Sotomayor’s moving memoir is a perfect example of why biographies should make up a portion of a reader’s regular literary diet. Biographies and memoirs provide inspiration and motivation, either out of a desire to emulate the subject of the tale, or to be something other than what the subject was. Justice Sotomayor’s account was much more of the former.
Partaking of this memoir via audio book was particularly enjoyable. Rita Moreno gave a moving interpretation of the story, and it was a treat to hear the justice’s own voice for the introduction of the book.

I found Justice Sotomayor’s story to be incredibly moving (I fought back tears through much of it, driving to and from work), and I think I may even purchase a copy of the book, though I am not sure whether a hard copy or the audio book. While I would highly recommend this book to anyone (see above regarding the need for regular consumption of biographies and memoirs), I recognize that I enjoyed this book so much for deeply personal reasons.
