Ninja-in-Training

I am a ninja-in-training.

At least that is what my supervisor at works tells me. The training has been going on for over a year now. Advocating for those who have been neglected and abused, and intervening in the lives of delinquent children with the hope of correcting their course while they are still impressionable.

Starting at the end of July my training intensifies, transitioning full time to give a voice to the littlest of victims.

The little ninja, my welcome gift up being assigned to our child victim unit, is a tiny toy to help kids as they testify. They can hide it in their hands–no one else can see it, but they know it’s there, and it gives them the courage to speak.

I am excited to be a ninja-in-training. I have a lot to learn, which can be daunting, but I’m up for the challenge. This role doesn’t just feel like a professional “good fit.” It’s also fulfilling God’s command to protect and defend the most vulnerable among us. By His grace, I’m following that call.

There are those who do not treat children in recognition of the value God has instilled in them. This ninja-in-training will do her best to hold those wrongdoers accountable for that. So help me God.

Because every kid deserves to know that they are Heaven’s treasure.
